This is kind of like the idea i brought up yesterday with Tay Tay about a prefabricated apartment building company. We could build like this near slums and give apartments away “micro-loan” style. This way the company would make a profit so we could build more. LETS END HOMELESSNESS!!!!!!!!!
Stop what you are doing.
Right now. I mean RIGHT NOW. Go to tell someone, ANYONE that you love them. And smile. Post results in the comments.

Day 27: a person you wished lived closer and why
Jorie I wish you lived in my room so i could be with you all the time.
Day 28: something you makes you really angry
Anti-intellectualism. We are all guilty of making fun of intelligence but some are far more guilty of it. Think of how many people could have made the world better if they weren’t so afraid of being identified as “nerds”
Day 29: a date you’d love for someone to take you on
80 day long around the world in 80 days date.
Day 30: 5 favorite girls names, 5 favorite boys names

She’s reads my tumblr sometimes so lets just say. I miss happy you. Be happy
Day 34: your horoscope for today and whether you think it’s accurate
Q1 I don’t care. Q2 Absolute horse shit.
Day 35: words you live by, why do you like them
“This line from God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater comes as part of a baptismal speech the protagonist says he’s planning for his neighbors’ twins: “Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.” “
Because its absolutely true. It doesn’t say “be kind to some people” or “everyone except-” it just says be kind.
Day 36: what you think about your friends
I love them all and i refuse to give up on any of you.
Day 37: who are you
Tom Porter. Resident optimist.
day 38: thoughts on your generation
I think we have the potential to be the next “greatest generation” a phrase i hate by the way. I can’t stand people who talk badly about this generation. Every generation talks badly about the generation behind them and they are ALWAYS wrong. Do you know of any generation of humans that are complete shit. No of course you can’t.
day 39: why you think you’ve learned more from the good or the bad
I learn from the both, but I learn it all backwards and forwards and I have yet to learn anything that makes me think the world is bad.
day 40: what are features you get complimented on a lot
Lately I’ve been getting a lot of compliments. People say I’m nice or smart or on the physical side my hair, eyes, face or newly acquired skinnyness.
We had it all planed out.
Joe and I would take charge of Muammar Gaddafi’s arrangements living in our home. Hey would have had the nicest room in the house (Hanna’s room) as well as another small room upstairs for his staff. He could eat with us, use our shower, pet our cat, share the fridge. He obviously needs someplace to go, he OBVIOUSLY would bring some extra income to the house though we thought he should probably apply for the cook job down at the brew. We thought that because it was within driving distance and he probably does not have a US drivers licence. He would of loved it and I think it would have been a lot of fun. In the end it was all shut down cause dad says we already have one extra person living here and can’t have two. OH WELL!
Day 10-22
Day 11: the worst advice you’ve ever heard, or ever been given
I have no idea. I guess when girls tell other girls to not be obvious about what they want in terms of guys is pretty dumb. Cuz girls should just say what they want……. DUMB QUESTION
Day 12: the best advice you’ve ever heard, or ever been given
Who ever first made fun of the idea of high school being serious business around me. I realized then it’s dumb to take HS to seriously cause its not a big deal.
Day 13: your favorite quote
”Cause it’s next. ‘Cause we came out of the cave, and we looked over the hill and we saw fire; and we crossed the ocean and we pioneered the west, and we took to the sky. The history of man is hung on a timeline of exploration and this is what’s next.” -Sam Seaborn when talking about the importance of space flight. Really anything said by Sam Seaborn
Day 14: write about something you believe in, anything at all
People. remember kids the news only reports when something goes wrong not all the things that go right.
Day 15: a song that makes you cry and why
None make me cry but “Please don’t go” by Barcelona is close http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7deClndzQw
Day 16: someone you trust
Tay Tay Williams nuf said
Day 17: your idol and why you look up to them
I’ve got a lot of idols my Dad, Barack Obama, My friends, SOME teachers, but all of them I look up to because they have a calm head on there shoulders. The ability to keep your composure under pressure impresses me.
Day 18: why you made your blog, why you still have it
Jorie Johnson, Jorie Johnson
Day 19: your thoughts on your family
I love them. They are all really amazing people and I couldn’t be luckier to be born in the family i was.
Day 20: what you think makes someone beautiful
The less pessimistic, cynical, stressed, hateful, or upsetting you are the more beautiful you get. It has very little to do with physical looks.
Day 21: everything you wish for in a significant other
I want her to spend every day of her life not having to worry and being happy. And for as long as I can help her with those things I want to be with her.
Day 22: how you judge intelligence
Pretty severely. The grades you get in school or the test scores you get or the classes you take mean very little to me. I look way more for a persons ability to solve problems or absorb information. That’s why teenagers who can pick up a cell phone and know how to use every feature in 5 minutes appears way more intelligent to me than a person who has an encyclopedic knowledge of laws or medicine OR GRAMMAR! FUCK GRAMMAR NAZIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Day 7, 8, 9, 10:
Day 7: a show or a movie that has changed you, and how
The story i talked about earlier with the baboons came from an amazing radio show called RadioLab on NPR this episode was called “New Normal” It was about weather humans could change and stop fighting eachother. It had a bunch of storys on other things changing or turning peaceful. I heard it on ride home from visiting Hanna at UNI I was on driving on my own and it changed my life. I’m even more optimistic and positive about myself and everyone.
Day 8: things that make you sad
The only thing that has brought me near tears since I was a child was hearing people in my family who I love a lot yelling furiously at each other. I ran out of the house through the garage and sat in my car. That mad me terribly sad. Besides that just getting bad news like friends breaking up or doing something dangerous. I mostly get sad about big things that I had hopes for that failed like space missions and what not.
Day 9: Things that make you Happy
I love hearing about technology advances on the internet or tv. Or hearing about successes weather its the cubs or Iraq, my friends or the economy. Success means the world is moving forward and i love progress. But most importantly My friends and JJ!
Day 10: what you think when you hear the words “be yourself”
Well its a nice sentiment. I have a few friends who try way to hard to be something they’re not and it’s really a bummer because i like the persons they are not the people they’re trying to be like. Mostly when i hear it i think its a nice sentiment but generally bad advice. It sounds nice but really its not very constructive. But its the thought that counts.
Day 6/365: something you would like to change about yourself
I would certainly like to be in better shape. That would be fantastic. Beyond that i wish i could concentrate better and be less of a lazy prick. There has been to many times I was to lazy to do anything but the bare minimum on something i didn’t want to do for school. That would help me a lot. I also wish I would do the right thing more often especially when I openly realize I’m doing the wrong them while i’m doing it and don’t change.
Day 5/365: something you would change about the world
I heard once on a radio show that changed my life about the concept that all violence and hatred is started in any situation by a single violent spark.
The story was that a scientist went to Africa to observe a group of Baboons who lived near a resort. He studied them from afar for years and got to know and grow fond of them. The male baboons by their nature fight all the time. Not to death but just to show dominance. The males especially fight over food. The females don’t fight as much but mostly groom each other and the young baboons and the men. Now the male baboons moved around from their native group and slowly join another group as they turn in to adults. They fight their way in to show strength and get food and to get accepted enough for the women to accept them and groom them.
One day the scientist goes to see his baboon friends and sees that they are horribly sick. He learns that the landfill the resort throws they’re trash in to most have been contaminated with TB which while dangerous to humans is terrible to baboons. It makes their skin decay and kills then in an extremely painful way. Because the regularity of these monkeys normalcy had been compromised the scientist had to unfortunately move on to another group of baboons.
Many years later he comes back with his girlfriend and he goes to show her this group of baboons that he grew up with. What he saw shocked him. This group of baboons was back to there normal health as he expected and who like all groups would fight savagely everyday was acting peacefully. Males were grooming males. they would share food, and never once fought. He saw that when a baboon from a new tribe would join them they would start off trying to fight but would quickly be shown that that isn’t how it worked with them and that violence wasn’t tolerated. The scientist gathered that this peacefulness was because those males that would fight all the time died off and it became the new normal to be peaceful.
Those males that died were a spark of violence. All it took was one to be violent and then they would all be in a full on brawl, but when they were removed from their society peace was what they did and violence was unacceptable. This is a great analogy for the world. Violence happens because those who act violently think that because it is in some way acceptable because someone before them was violent it’s OK for them to be too. Now if only I could help people around the world change their worldview where violence is OK under some circumstances than I think to world would be an entirely different place. That is the dream.
